Second Source Strategy

FORTEC helps you achieve a stable supply chain for your project

What happens when supply route A suddenly collapses?
Then we use route B — before a risk turns into a complete standstill.

With our Second Source Management, we turn uncertainty into stability. An acute problem in the supply chain threatens your project and your economic stability. Supply shortages or component discontinuations not only lead to delays — they cause contractual penalties, production downtime, and lasting reputational damage.
This is exactly where our Second Source Management comes in:
We do not rely on a single supplier. Instead, we secure critical components through an additional, qualified, and audited partner.
Our second source is more than just an alternative — it is your strategic safety net!

Risk for the Supply Chain

Our Second Source Strategy

Supply chain disruptions
Geopolitical tensions, natural disasters, or production outages can suddenly restrict the availability of components in the supply chain.

Global locations
enable stable production and component sourcing, even if individual locations should fail.

Component discontinuations (EOL)
Electronic components are often discontinued at short notice and require rapid redesigns.

EOL Process and Obsolescence Management
Through a structured EOL process, we enable last-time buys and/or identify alternative products for your project.

Single-source dependency
A single supplier represents a high risk for the supply chain, with direct impacts on schedules and costs.

Maintaining a partner network
We work with long-standing, trusted partners and continuously search for new, reliable second-source suppliers.

Price volatility & raw material shortages
Fluctuating markets lead to unexpected additional costs and budget risks.

Risk mitigation concepts
Experience, forward-looking planning, continuous development, and the early identification of dependencies help minimize risks.

Quality and certification requirements
New regulatory requirements or standards can fundamentally challenge existing solutions.

Zertifizierungsaudits
Durch unsere ISO 9001:2015 Zertifizierung und unangekündigte, unabhängige Audits stellen wir die hohe Qualität unserer Lieferkette sicher.

Technological disruption
Rapid innovation cycles increase the risk that the technologies used become obsolete early and put projects at risk.

Expertise & partner network
Technological expertise and long-standing relationships with a stable partner network, as well as defined processes for onboarding new partners, ensure our technological openness.

Stable supply chain thanks to distributed production sites

The FORTEC Group operates production sites in Germany, the Czech Republic, and the United States, and is currently establishing an additional production facility in Egypt.

This provides decisive advantages for a stable and high-performance supply chain: Through geographic diversification, we reduce dependencies on individual regions and minimize risks such as transport bottlenecks, political uncertainties, or local production outages. At the same time, shorter transport routes to the respective target markets result in lower transportation costs and faster, more reliable delivery.

We combine global strength with regional proximity. For our customers, this means greater supply security, increased flexibility, and faster response times.

You focus on your project - we take care of the rest for you.
