An RMA form (Return Merchandise Authorization) is a document that serves as approval from the seller (FORTEC) to enable the return of products. It is used to manage the return process and ensure that the return shipment can be properly tracked. RMA forms help manufacturers and suppliers monitor return requests and identify product issues before issuing a refund or replacement.

An RMA number is a return authorization number. It is issued by the retailer or manufacturer (FORTEC) before a product is sent back by a customer for repair, exchange, or warranty claims. Without an RMA number, the return cannot be processed.

RoHS compliant means that a product meets the EU RoHS directives and contains only very small amounts or no hazardous substances such as lead or mercury, making it environmentally friendly, safe for health, and permitted for sale within the EU.

REACH stands for the REACH Regulation, an EU chemicals regulation that governs the handling of chemical substances. Companies are required to register chemicals and assess their risks. Substances of very high concern may only be used with authorization or are restricted or banned. The aim is to protect human health and the environment, as well as to increase transparency regarding chemical contents.

A display is a screen on which information such as text, images, or videos is shown. Displays can be found in devices such as smartphones, computers, televisions, or monitors. They are used to make information visible and enable the operation of devices. Fortec offers a wide range of different display variants.

Full Array Local Dimming is a display technology in which the LED backlight is positioned directly behind the entire screen and divided into multiple zones. These zones can be controlled with varying brightness levels or completely switched off depending on the image content. This results in deeper blacks, higher contrast, and overall significantly improved picture quality.

Full Array LED is a screen backlighting technology in which LEDs are evenly distributed behind the entire display. This allows specific areas of the image to be dimmed individually, resulting in deeper blacks, higher contrast, and overall better picture quality compared to devices with edge LED backlighting.

Hidden displays are designed so that, when switched off, they are invisible behind a glass surface with a customized appearance, e.g. wood, carbon, or any individual finish. Only when switched on or activated do the contents appear clearly and with high contrast through the design surface.

An E-Paper is the digital version of a newspaper or magazine that can be read on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. At FORTEC, an E-Paper monitor or display is based on E-Ink technology, and the image content looks like printed paper. An E-Paper monitor usually has no backlight and consumes no power when displaying static content.

The word “pixel” is derived from the English terms “picture” and “element,” meaning “picture element.” A pixel is the smallest individually addressable point on a screen or in a digital image that can display a specific color. Many pixels together form the visible image, and the number and arrangement of pixels determine the sharpness and level of detail. The more pixels an image has, the finer and clearer it appears, while fewer pixels result in a coarser, less detailed image.

Subpixels are the smallest components of a pixel on a display, which together create the colors of an image. A pixel usually consists of three subpixels in red, green, and blue, whose brightness is combined to produce all possible colors. They are so small that they are typically only visible under strong magnification.

A bright defect type is most likely a pixel defect. In the case of bright pixels, there are several steps you can take to improve image quality or resolve the issue:

  • Full-screen mode: Switch your browser to full-screen mode to check for any defects.
  • Software updates: Check if there are software updates available for your display that may fix the issue.
  • Contact the seller: If the problem persists, you should contact the manufacturer or retailer to request a repair or replacement.

It is important to know the pixel defect class of your display in order to understand the acceptable number of defects and, if necessary, assert any legal claims.

Touch works by a screen detecting where it is being touched. This is often done using capacitive technology, where a finger changes the electrical field on the surface of the display and sensors register this change as a touch action. Other touch technologies use pressure between two layers, interrupted infrared beams, or disrupted ultrasonic waves. All methods have in common that they detect the position of the touch action and pass this information to the device to trigger a corresponding action.

Multi-touch is a touchscreen technology that allows a display to detect and process multiple touch points at the same time. This makes it possible to perform gestures such as zooming, rotating, or swiping with two or more fingers. Multi-touch is commonly used in smartphones, tablets, laptops, and interactive displays.

Gesture control is a technology that allows devices to be operated through movements of the hands, fingers, or body instead of using buttons or touchscreens. For example, you can switch images on a screen, adjust the volume, or control smartphones and televisions with simple hand movements in the air.

The form factor describes the size, shape, and layout of connectors in computer components. It ensures that parts such as the motherboard, housing, and power supply are compatible and can be installed together without issues.
